*That's How I Roll*

For some reason I think every post should have a picture, it just doesn't feel complete without one!! So since this story is about Dillon here's one of my favorite pics of my boy!! On Oct. 1 Dillon went on a scout camp out with Darin (Darin's a scout leader for the 11 yr. olds) Earlier that day Dillon missed some of his words on his spelling test so Darin was giving him a hard time. Back to the camp out: they were sitting around the campfire and Darin asked Mike (the other scout leader) if his daughter Brittnee (who's in Dillon's class) had gotten a 100% and tells him how disappointed he was cause it was the first time Dillon hadn't gotten a 100% so Mike & Darin looked over at Dillon and he flicks his shirt and says to them "Ya- That's How I Roll"

I've fallen and I can't get up!!

I totally forgot all about this picture until I was downloading some pictures from my camera onto my computer. I'm not sure why he thought it would be a good idea to sit in a bucket, but I think that a lot with Degan!! He is a child that if you tell him "don't touch that it's hot" he'll touch it anyways cause he has to find out for himself!! He definitely marches to the beat of his own drum!! He has never ending energy!! He is aggressive and mean, but is also very loving and compassionate!! He was NOT an easy baby, and was a very active toddler, which has carried over into this phase of childhood!! He has an over active imagination and loves to tell stories and lies!! He can spend hours playing with his G.I. Joe's & Lego's! He loves to sing, as a baby he would hum himself to sleep and even now in the car or when he's playing he hums to himself!! He loves to play with his best friend Kylen and I must say these two are quit a pair, can you say double trouble? in the last month they flooded our courtyard and Ruger's kennel!! He loves to bug and wrestle with his brothers, it's OK for him to be mean to his brothers but if anybody else is mean you better watch out he's there to defend and stand up for them!! He loves to be snuggled and tickled by his mom, I'm apologizing now to his future wife who will have to spend endless hours tickling his back, arms, legs and face!! Degan isn't the mellowest child around but he makes life interesting for sure! I see great things in his future!!

Preschool!!

Degan ready for his first day of preschool
Headed out the door!
Walking to Miss Kim's

Degan was super excited to go to preschool!! He doesn't go until 12:30 so he was asking me ALL morning if it was time for him to go, I think he was afraid it would start without him!!  When it was finally time to go he happily headed out the door and made the long trek to the Bunker's house across the street!! How lucky are we to have preschool across the street!!

The Batcave!!

Gotham City and the Batcave
Batman to the rescue!!

Degan has been obsessed with Batman lately! He wants a Batman birthday party and wants to dress like him for halloween, so we decided to turn the cubby under our stairs into a batcave! Darin painted the city, we found the big batman sticker on amazon and got some stone looking tissue paper and wallpapered the back to look like a cave. The boys love it and are having lots of fun playing down there!!

A Hunting we will Go

Darin's very first Antelope
Notice the nice bullet hole

It took Darin 7 years to get his Antelope tag, so there was no talking him out of going on this hunt (believe me I tried) Him and Jeremy left early Thursday morning and drove to Ely, picked up another guy and than cruised over to his area to hunt. They soon discovered that all the antelope were on the farmers land grazing so they knocked on a few doors and asked if they could hunt on their property the first two said no, but third times the charm and this old guy named Todd took a liking to Darin and let him hunt on his property! Darin & Todd hopped in his truck and he takes him to where he saw some earlier, Darin takes a few shots and missed, so he drops Darin off by a water pump that's loud and hidden and tells him to hide there, he's gonna go back up and chase them down his way and to stick his barrel up one of the antelopes ass and shoot!! It went just as planned, they ran right past Darin and stopped about 75 yards away,  The antelope started to move on him again so Darin knew this would be his last chance. He took a shot and  ended up hitting the antelope in the head and it dropped instantly to the ground!! Todd told them after they gutted it to bring it up to the barn. They get it to the barn and Todd has a nice set up and helps Darin skin it and cut up the meat. They of course BS the whole time and Todd says he's not sure why he let Darin hunt on his property, he never lets anyone hunt on his property!! I'm glad he did cause the hunt was so fast they headed home that evening, the funny thing is he spent all day Wednesday packing up getting things ready and they didn't need any of it!! Oh well all that matters is he got something right?

Back 2 School

First day of second grade!
Mrs. Shumway's class!

I swear I blinked and summer was over, where does the time go? I know Dillon was secretly excited to start the 2nd grade even if he kept saying NO everytime we asked him!! He was a little nervous that morning and he made me stay and walk him to his classroom, but that's OK with me I like that in someways I'm still needed. I've heard good things about Mrs. Shumway and think it's going to be a fun year!!

Happy Birthday Daddy!!

Let's Bowl!!
Go Daddy It's your Birthday!!
-Go Degan-
STRIKE!!

Darin turned "33" this year on the 28th of Aug. The first thing he said was "I think it's a good year for a mid life crisis I'm gonna buy me a motorcycle or a sports car!!" and than "I'm getting so old" The boys decided they wanted to take him out for lunch and bowling, so we headed into vegas and ate at the Cheese Cake Factory and than met the Overson's at the Santa Fe for some bowling, It was like our double dates in high school but we've added 7 little cuties and we're just a little older and wiser!!  Happy Birthday Honey/Daddy-We LOVE You!!

Locked & Loaded

Dad giving Dillon some pointers!
Dillon shooting his cricket by himself
Degan's Turn
Don't forget about Dusty Boy!

Darin got an antelope tag this year so he needed to go sight in his gun, so one evening we headed out to the shooting range in the wash and let the boys shoot a few bullets, even though none of them hit the targets they still had fun!! and I'm looking forward to all the father son hunting trips in the future!!

What the Hail??

Pretty Rainbow right before it hailed!
Boys Will be Boys!!
Cute little Piggies Wallowing in the Mud!
 Caught with their pants down!!!

Is it possible for it to hail in the middle of August in one of the hottest cities around?? you wouldn't think so and if I didn't witness it myself I would've said Hail No!! It was the craziest thing It got super windy for like 5 minutes than pea size hail started smacking against the windows and enough rain feel to fill up the courtyard and make a small river run down the road!! 10 minutes later it was as still as can be and the boys were out splishing and splashing around!!

No More Diapers!!

Dusty on his way to the bathroom
Peeing on the big potty

After we got back from our last summer vacation I decided to potty train Dustin! He had been ready for awhile, but I held him off so we wouldn't have to deal with it while on the road. It only took him one day to get the peeing part down and only four days and one good spanking to get the pooping down!! Now the only problem is when he needs to go pee he pulls down his pants where ever he's at and walks to the bathroom with his shorts around his ankles!! (Silly kid he could get there a lot faster if he kept them pulled up) Once again I hit a milestone that makes me both happy & sad. No More Diapers!!! YAY! Sniff Sniff!!

On The Road Again!!

Became the theme song for our very last summer vacation!! We were gone for a week and spent almost everyday in the car to get to our many destinations!! It's a good thing our kids travel well!
July 26th: Left early in the morning and drove to Utah, Played at a really cool park, Darin, Jordan, & Tristan took the boys to the nickle arcades and just hung out with the Spoerri's
July 27th: Drove to Idaho, got pulled over for our tint being to dark,(and than the rest of the trip every time we saw a police car Darin would roll his window down at 80 MPH it gets a little windy) Got to the Doty's in the early afternoon and than we all headed to Jackson Hole Wyoming to do some camping and site seeing and than quickly decided that to fully enjoy Jackson hole you have to have lots of money to spend to do the cool stuff!!
July 28th: Drove to Afton to see my Dad's grave and ate lunch at the "Red Baron" (Darin thought it was over priced but my Dad would take me there when I was little for milkshakes and hush puppies, so it was fun for me!) Than we drove back to Idaho which by the way was beautiful, I enjoyed looking out my window for that 2 hour drive! and the kids kept spotting these HUGE bird nests on top of the power poles.  Dillon finally was brave enough to do a front flip on the tramp and the kids played in the rain.
July 29th: The kids played outside all morning and smothered poor Rusty (Doty's new dog) Than headed to Leo's Place for lunch! The kids had fun playing all the arcade games, winning tickets and getting prizes!! We than hopped in the car again and headed back to SLC. We found us a Hotel close to downtown  and let the boys go swimming. Darin taught Dillon to do back flips into the water! That night we went and walked the temple grounds and through the Joseph Smith Building.
July 30th: Austin & Kristie's Wedding Day! Darin took the boys swimming again that morning so Dillon could perfect his back flip! Took the boys to see a movie "Despicable Me" and went to get the oil changed where Degan decided that talking and bugging strangers would be a fun thing! He had a fake spider and kept putting it on his shoulder good thing the guys was nice and played along with Degan! (I guess he needs to watch the stranger danger video again) We than headed over to the Spoerri's for a family BBQ in honor of the happy couple! & some cake for Josh's 8th B-day! than the boys swam in the hot tub.
July 31st: Dillon & Josh got up way to early and got kicked off YouTube 6:30 that morning! Than everyone spent the morning setting up for the outdoor reception! In the afternoon a storm started rolling in and by the time the reception started it was sprinkling. Bon & Vern knew the neighbor lady so Degan asked her if him & his friends could go over and play in her yard! We than invaded a Mexican restaurant for some dinner! Went and said our good byes and made the trip back Home! we got home at two the next morning! I was a fun vacation but it's always nice to get home and sleep in your own bed!!

Happy Birthday to Me!!

For my Birthday Darin surprised me with a over night trip to the Golden Nugget in Vegas!! We first went and got pedicures (yes I made Darin get one too!) Went down to the pool (which was really cool) and had to get out after only 20 minutes cause they were closeing!! Than headed down to Fremont Street to watch the show and all the crazy people!! Thank You Honey for making #32 Fun!!
